Wizard day at Royal Manx Agricultural Show raises more than £1000 for Junior Achievement

Tuesday 20 August 2019

More than £1000 was raised for Junior Achievement Isle of Man at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show after the Manx charity ran a series of potions classes inspired by the Harry Potter films.

The event sponsored by a number of local businesses which included Auxesia, Baker Tilly IOM, Hartford Homes, Anglo Manx Trust Company, Itchyfeet Recruitment Agency, Lloyds Bank, The George A Moore Foundation (IOM), Robinson’s, Shoprite, SmartHR, Swagelok, Utmost Wealth Solutions and ELS, gave children the opportunity to take part in an interactive lesson in a large marquee with the help of a team of volunteers who donated their time to the charity.

JA chief executive Sue Cook said: ‘The event proved to be hugely popular and despite the poor weather conditions we were delighted that it didn’t to put off any wannabe-wizards.

‘The potions classes made for a fantastic family day out with many people entering into the spirit of things by coming dressed as their favourite character.

‘With all the events we stage we aim to offer a truly memorable experience. That wouldn’t be possible, though, without our team of enthusiastic volunteers and the generous support of many local businesses. We’re very grateful to everyone who made the day such a success and helped us to raise more than £1000 so that we can continue to help young people in every primary and secondary school in the island make the connection between education and the world of work.’
