Ballakermeen Students Win Challenge for Change Interschool Finals!

On July 1st, the Challenge for Change Interschool Finals took place at the Games Global offices, bringing together the winning teams from each of the Island's secondary schools.
Each team presented an innovative solution to one of four environmental challenges: food waste, energy waste, littering or fast fashion. The quality of every presentation was outstanding, and it was clear just how much time, creativity and hard work had gone into each project.

Congratulations to our overall winners, 'Low Expectations' from Ballakermeen High School! Despite their ironic team name, they certainly exceeded expectations with their winning idea, Scan Chef - an app designed to help families and university students reduce food waste by making the most of the food they already have.
The standard of the competition was incredibly high, making it a very close contest. Every team should be immensely proud of what they achieved. Their confidence, teamwork and innovative thinking were inspiring to see, demonstrating just how passionate young people are about creating a more sustainable future.

A huge thank you to Games Global for generously sponsoring the programme and hosting this year's finals. Special thanks to Stuart McLean and the Games Global team for their fantastic support throughout the programme.
Thank you to our judges, Lady Lorimer MBE, Aly Lewin, Climate Change Director at DEFA, and Rachael Cringle and Mark Britton from Games Global, for giving their time and expertise to the competition.

Finally, a huge thank you to FLA Woodwork & Design for donating the beautiful handcrafted Manx wood trophy, and to DaleWood Craft Designs for engraving it. Your generosity helped make the occasion even more special.
