Junior Achievement Great Wall of China Charity Trek 2027
Each year Junior Achievement organises a charity trek and many people have asked us to go back to the Great Wall of China, which we last visited in 2018.
For the moment, we are asking people to register their expression of interest. This does not mean you are obligated but you will be the first to know once we release the details.
It’s anticipated that the trek will be over 10 days, which includes the necessary time for travelling.
Approximate costs are £2,600 + a commitment to fundraise £1,000.
What's included?
• Flights from London - Beijing (return)
• All your transfers in China. There will be a ground team to help move you from location to location including your luggage
• Shared twin accommodation (single supplement available)
• Local English speaking guides and support staff
• UK Expedition Leader and Doctor who will travel will you
• Full board (meals included)
• Celebratory dinner in Beijing at the end of the trek
Who is the trek suitable for?
This trek is ideal for anyone who enjoys adventure, discovering new places and being part of a group experience. You don’t need to be an experienced trekker, but you should have a reasonable level of fitness and be comfortable walking for several hours a day, including tackling some uphill and downhill sections.
Accommodation is part of the adventure. We stay in local guest houses and smaller, more traditional accommodation, rather than five-star hotels. Facilities are comfortable and welcoming, but simple - the emphasis is on experiencing the local culture and surroundings rather than luxury.
You’ll carry a day pack containing your essentials for each day, while your main luggage will be transported for you between accommodations, so you can concentrate on enjoying the trek.
Most importantly, you should have a positive attitude, a sense of adventure and be prepared to embrace the occasional challenge along the way. The Great Wall can be demanding in places, but that’s all part of what makes completing the journey so rewarding!
