The evening before the competition, you will be given the chance to erect a trade stand. The aim of your trade stand is to use it as a shop front to display or sell your products.

On the day of the competition, judges, members of the public and students will be visiting your trade stand to learn about your product.

What you need to know

  • You will be given a space which is 2m wide x 1.5m in depth. Anything you display MUST fit in this area.
  • Think about how you can make the space exciting and visually appealing, like a shop window.
  • On request, you will be provided with a table, a chair and an electric socket.
  • We do not provide any backdrops or stands.

Judging

The judges will look at how well you sell your service or product and will pay particular attention to your promotional material, i.e. brochures, sales material and contact information. They will also look at how visually appealing your stand is.

Top Tips

  • Make sure customers know how to contact you.
  • Make sure all team members are clued up on your product and can answer any question about your business.
  • Don’t stand talking or chewing gum.
  • If you are selling an item, do you have a brochure? Does it include the price? Why should I buy your product?
  • Take a critical look at your stand. If a customer came to your stand, would they be able to tell what you are selling without having to ask questions?
